Am bored .. in my 20's

Place with many things to do, but I feel people don't have any "spark of life" in their eyes.

Quite depressing since i'm in my 20's

I know how you feel, but really maybe it would be a good idea to try to do things on your own, go hiking, the movies ...

Re: Am bored .. in my 20's

Welcome to the forum. Quite an intro you have there. More information and fewer fragmented sentences might help us help you.

Do you want to meet others, or have you already made friends and are disappointed with their "lack of life spark in their eyes?" Either way, clubs, sports activities, local nightlife spots/pubs, cafes, after-work drinks with colleagues, EF events, etc. are all good ways to meet new people.

You shouldn't simply blame your current situation upon a lack of qualities in the people around you (as there are thousands of individuals in your location and surely not all of them are boring and lacking the ability to have fun). Step up and take ownership of your own well-being! Be sure that you are not guilty of the same "boringness" that you see in others, and fun people will hopefully flock to you!

Try to be a good and fun friend in order to have good and fun friends!

Easily my favourite quote.

Life is awesome! Get out and meet people! Join a club or something. I joined up with a sports club here and I've become friends with all the mates there (especially since I've been starting to beat them ). With that, I've started meeting their friends and their friends friends. It's simple.

When I want to just enjoy myself I go out hiking (and soon scrambling!), this country is amazing for that!

Hell today I'm going to a concert in Basel by myself but after a couple emails with the host, I've learn't they're a fellow Canadian so maybe I will have someone to talk to + enjoy the great music with.

Aye, as with what everyone else has said, be the change you want to see.

Re: Am bored .. in my 20's

Let's not be too hard on the OP, as I'm sure we are all sometimes hit by these moments of despondency. But the later comments are wise. It's an old cliché but "life is what you make it".

The "spark of life" is there for sure -- but you have to choose to see it.

hi,

go hit the road for 2-3 weeks, alone. Take a Interrail ticket and head some direction (southern europe if you come from the north, northern europe otherwise). Switch off your phone/laptop/whatever, resist the internet altogether. And read a couple of good books while traveling, such as The Catcher In The Rye and On The Road.

This is what I did in my 20's and it helped me a lot.

Re: Am bored .. in my 20's

Wow I'm quite surprised by the number of replies,

I didn't think I would have even 1 but heck I was wrong.

The reason why the sentence is so "fragmented" it is because it was moved.

I have lived here for a long while. I donno for you older folks, but people my age are really quite the depressing type.

Maybe the wrong mob, but it's not like I live in a supermarket and just meet new interesting people.

I'm in the Lausanne, Montreux area. Any people here around my age ?

Re: Am bored .. in my 20's

I am in your age range, and coming from the states it can be quite the culture shock. I went from having a nice apartment with all the amenities, a good job, and a nice car, to having an amazing job, riding a bike every where and sleeping on the floor in my flat. Life is funny that way. You have to give up some of the creature comforts to really experience life. When I left the states I left behind everything, family, friends and a potential wife to see what the world had to offer. I can tell you, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Switzerland has welcomed me with open arms, even though my German is horrible to say the least. . Just go out, no matter how uncomfortable you are. Meet people and enjoy life

Cool, thanks for your replies, you're a nice bunch of people.

I admire your guts of leaving, I'v always admired people like that since I can relate to it up to a certain degree.

I admit that I suffered and still suffer from an social anxiety disorder, I have an negative attitude towards swiss people here since I blame my anxiety by growing up here.

But I do wish to leave for good the place that always has rejected me.

Trust me, I know the "social anxiety" thing. I am an engineer by trade if that tells you anything . You just have to force yourself to go out. I have found that doing that, you eventually become comfortable in your own skin, if you get the meaning

Hostelling might be a good idea. Hostels are rarely the quietest choice of accommodation – they’re just not put together that way. They’re supposed to be lively, bustling hives of energy… the sort of place where you can get together with a bunch of other backpackers from around the world and have an amazing night out.

If you find yourself in Praque, get yourself a 1 or 2 month rail ticket ( TCV SCIC NRT or CityStar tariff ). Take your time and meet up with youngsters at ( party ) hostels from many walks of life.

Really? I thought they were just supposed to be the cheapest place possible to crash for a night, and everything else was secondary.
