In Switzerland - April11 2012 - Vaud House Husband

Hello all well I am going into week 3 and can honestly say it has not been easy. Shell shocked to be honest but more than willing to dig in. I have moved countries before - but always to English speaking countries...Scotland to England...England To Canada ...Canada To US briefly....and now Canada to Switzerland.
I have given up my career to support my new wife. I thought being at home would be easy and no doubt once we move into our house in Blonay June 1 and out of the apartment things should get better.

I am looking for some company just to have a chat , I don't drink so I find that awkward sometimes but I am extremely outgoing - I run , bike, hike and swim. I would love to kick a ball again I am 47 so nothing to serious. I like to fish, dance, sing etc...and a good sense of humor , I have been told I make friends fast so any other individuals out there men or woman ( its safe girls really it is) who may want to reach out then message me or even offer advice on here.
Cheers
James

Hello, James and welcome to our community. Being home is not always easy, especially when one does not speak the lingo, been there, done that. Good you showed up here.

We could put a fishing group together, weehee..Or chess, anyone?

I am not into drinking much, either, just like loads of folks here, so don't take drinking as a norm.

Hi James, and welcome.
I guess in Blonay, you should not be short of company, as there are many english speaking expats in the area. Also, there will be quite a few who enjoy sports as well, so you should be at home. If you want to kick a ball about (round or egg shaped?) there is a group of expats who play football on Thursday night at the sports field by Blonay Chateau. Egg chasers are on the same field Tuesday nights.
Another alternative, depending on your views on Christianity, is the English Church in Vevey, www.allsaints.ch . Good for meeting people, however strong or not any faith might be.
Good luck, and if you are in Vevey and want to grab a coffee anytime, please send me a message.
Cheers

Hi James,

Looks like we are in exactly the same boat, shame we are a couple of hours distance apart otherwise we could hook up on a regular basis, however I'm still up for meeting a couple of times a month if you wish.
