Newbie in England

Hi!

I'm a Brit living in the UK with American hubby (who will be getting his Brit citizenship soon) and 2 1/2 year old son. We spent 4 years in the US, 4 in England and now are looking at a move to Europe for a while in the future.

It would be nice if it could be sooner, but when we moved here from US no-one seemed to want to give hubs a job so he moved from programming (C/C++) into networking. Unfortunaly, he doesn't have the on paper qualifications for networking so he's in the process of getting them starting with CCNA and working up. Plus his programming skills are thought of as too rusty. So that'll probably take a few years unfortunately. But I like to be prepared early!

We've also started learning German, I did it for GCSE (remember little but it's actually coming back) and really like it. I'm also doing an English Lit/lang degree with German through Open University, but I haven't got to the German part yet! I plan on teaching English as a second lang, originally in the UK, but decided to get the Trinity TESOL cert so the skill will transfer.

We're not 100% definite on Switzerland as opposed to Germany or Austria, but my friend has been selling me on it (waves to Music Mole) and it seems good. We're not planning a forever stay in another country (though we are open minded) and so no place has to be perfect or anything, we just want the experience.

I don't know how active I'll be given that we will probably not be moving soon (though will still be looking at jobs just in case) but it seemed so rude to be reading the place and not saying hello or anything!

Lindsay
