Hello Zurich from chicago, will be there soon need some advice

Hello All,

my wife and I are traveling through Europe for christmas, new years and beyond. We'll be in Zurich on the 3rd of Jan. two questions...

can you take the same train from paris to a ski resort for the night?

this is our first time to zurich, is it better to stay in a hotel in the downtown or at a ski resort?

i read that Flumserberg is the easiest to get to from the train station, what resort gives the best zurich experience and is there lodging you recommend?

thank you and really looking forwward to visiting your beautiful city!

I feel you have mistaken the EF for your travel agent but anyway

No.

As Zurich is not a ski resort I would guess a hotel in the city would be best. "downtown" is not common European terminology.

Flumserberg is reasonably easy to get to from Zurich (about an hour I think) but tends to be very busy. Others include Braunwald (90 minutes) which is a car free resort with everything you need inc ski hire etc. For the period you suggest, you will need to book in advance if you intend staying at the resort.

Try http://www.braunwald.ch where there are links to the hotels, ski shop, ski school etc.

also do consider that ski resorts are already reporting their best season for years, snow is on the slopes already and getting a single nights' stay in a ski resort around then will be nigh-on-impossible.

Also remember that the French like to strike a lot

You'll have to switch trains.

I dont know why this was necessary, i thought this is what forums were about, people reaching out to people and if there was a chicago forum and you needed advice i would certainly reach out to you with open arms...

thank you all for the advice and we are looking forward to our stay there. I think it would be best to stay in the city once we step off the train from paris and take transportation to ski for the day the next morning and still be able to see the nightlife of zurich by the evening.

Matlat has become a little unpopular

Don't worry because Mr. Swissbob complains in almost every post I've seen. I think he does not have anything else to do in his life than complaining and complaining about how/what people write on this forum... Pathetic!!!

maybe some people should understand what this forum exists for and that those helping out are volunteering their time?

considering www.rail.ch would give all this information and that can be found by Googling, why take chances with what could be second-hand inaccurate advice?

And please add value before you choose to criticise.
