Good Morning!!! Switzerland!!! ein großer Gruß zum alle

Hello everyone!

I just realized I should make an introduction.
I started using this wonderful forum a few months ago when a Google search for necessities and questions for moving from the states to Switzerland arose, and this site came up.

At the time I was so busy remodeling my house to put on the market and working in my home based dental lab and doing the majority of the cooking, while my wife did the majority of the child care, as well as work in the dental lab and put the paperwork in order to make the move over here. Oh, and paint everything in the house... she worked her arse off. I did not have a thought to make an introduction.

I think I can finally take a deep breath and exhale, tho some very important paperwork got boxed up and won't be here for 10 weeks, and I have to go to the police station tomorrow and explain that myself and my dog have papers, just not here yet .

So, where to start... I just moved to Chur. I'm very wordy and talk a lot, be forewarned any involvement with me will require lots of laughing and joking and talking.
I'm an Aries, if that's anything anyone can relate to and understand, I'm ADHD challenged, have a wonderful 3 and a half year old daughter that actually has more energy than I do. Shyla our dog is a mix Border collie/ Australian Shepherd. I love to read (listen to audio books).

I owned a dental prosthetic laboratory in Seattle for the last 10 years, my wife and I are both dental lab technicians. For several months I will be the houseman, then when all the forms and registrations and visa stuff has all the i's dotted and the t's crossed, I can start doing again what is a huge passion of mine, making teeth.

The other passion is teaching my daughter about healthy eating, (limit processed foods, MSG and sugar, eat animals that have been raise correctly, herbal medicine, homeopathy and the use of amino acids for corrections for mental and body dysfunctions.

I like rye whiskey, dark bier, grappa, all kinds of schnapps, dark rum, and old tequila, but not all in the same day.
(if anyone here knows where to get some good rye please let me know)

I hope to meet and make many friends here.

Tschüs

Darin

Please don't post any "not shy" pictures here when you've enjoyed your liquor ..... that includes teeth

Welcome

An interesting combination
there is much health in a little spirit consumption ... especially compared to the effects of processed foods, Canola oil, sugar, MSG and High Fructose Corn syrup and Grain fed cows

Welcome to Switzerland! The chances of rusting here are less than in Seattle. And the skiing is much closer too!

You are so correct, the last few winters started in September and ended in July... this year, we packed up on the 5th of July, the day before was raining and cold... the day after we left it was finally warm enough to call it a summer day.

I love the fact that we can get on the bus and train here and get to a ski destination fast. In Seattle I had to drive up to Steven's Pass, 83.0 miles from my house, 1 hour 45 minutes one way on perfect dry roads, 2+ hours on the ice and slush.

And here, my Schwiegermutter/ vater's house is just below the Skilifte Tschappina, so at the end of the ski day we just ski down to their house for Abendessen, a schnapps, grappa, heartz tea or heiße Schokolade and can take a room for sleep if we are too tired to come back.

Sounds great! wonder if we could do like in the states something like Meetup.com thingy... and get a group here on EF for the Chur and maybe a 5 or 10 km radius to meet up at the cool Chur park and play fields? Weekdays are the best, as to help me entertain my daughter and weekends to include working or studying spouses. Our weekends are pretty much booked out with her family, as they have not seen her much over the last 12 years. Owning a business in Seattle, really kept us in shackles.

Olivia and I have a Büga pass for the next year so we plan to go take rides around to different places like the cable car Rhäzüns - Feldis for something exciting to do.
Would love to have another kid or two along for her to get some non English language skills going.
