Another American moving to Neuchâtel

Hello all!

My name is Ximena, and I'll admit I've stumbled and added my place of living a little early. I will be moving from Chicago to Neuchâtel at the end of the month to join my fiancé who is starting his masters at the university there.

Apart from him, I do not know anyone in Neuchâtel, and hope to meet new people.

I will be in Neuchâtel definitively the first week of October. So after that, I would love to get coffee or cocktails, or even just head out and explore!

Á bientôt!

Re: Another American moving to Neuchâtel

Welcome - for your imminent arrival. Wow - Neuchatel is getting very busy of late, arrivals on a regular basis. Will be organising a few events mid to late October, then a Christmas party early December - so meet you soon.

odile (Granny O)

ps - Chicago and Neuchatel are VERY different, lol

Re: Another American moving to Neuchâtel

Hi,

My name is Lauren and I just moved here a few days ago and am also looking to meet people. Would love to grab a coffee or cocktail upon your arrival. So far, everyone seems very nice, and accommodating. Furthermore, they've been very tolerant of my lack of French speaking ability.

Hope you have safe travels here and look forward to meeting you.

ps. this place is absolutely beautiful!

Ecole Migros courses for French are starting now for 2012 - don't miss the boat. They have course for every level- Get a brochure from your local Migros.

Re: Another American moving to Neuchâtel

Thank you everyone for making me feel welcome here already!

Lauren, I would LOVE to get together once i'm in the country! I'm also glad to hear that everyone seems nice and accommodating, I know that's always a worry. I am lucky though in that I do speak decent French. My fiancé is half Swiss, and so French has become a necessity. I've found though that the Swiss are very very nice and always tell me I have a lovely accent (though I'm pretty sure I sound very much l'américaine!)

Odile, I'm very happy to know there are events that get planned! Yay! And, I presume that I shall miss the skyscrapers! I think Neuchatel will be a good different though. I lived in Rome for four years while I did my BA in International Affairs, and I do miss Europe.

I look forward to meeting you!

Hey hey welcome to neuchâtel (in advance that is).

Anyhow if you arrive at the end of the month and aren't to tired from the journey maybe a good way to start meeting people is Fête de vendanges.

Anyhow if you also want to go for a coffee let me know.

Hey, I am also new here from the states and I spent a couple of years living in Chicago. It's very different here, but extremely beautiful and peaceful. Would love to meet up sometime after your arrival. Good luck with your move!

Re: Another American moving to Neuchâtel

Hello all! Just thought I would update to let you all know that I am FINALLY in Neuchatel.

I spent a week in Milan on arrival before my S.O. went to get me.

My opinion so far is that it is very lovely!

I look forward to getting together with everyone soon!
