New Resident to Basel

Greetings EFers!

Love the forum and it's great vibe!

I have recently landed in Basel as I accepted a new position at my company's corporate headquarters, relocating from the San Francisco Bay Area. I had visited last year 4 times due to work so I had a slight flavor of Basel, but really am now enjoying my new community as a resident.

It's beginning to feel "real" since I just moved from my temporary to permanent apartment, although I'm way too familiar with the Pisler Furniture Rental company! My household goods leave San Francisco on October 10 so hopefully it's arrival will be my Christmas present!

I'm an avid wino (drinking, producing, collecting) and as fate would have it, I am next door to Paul Urlich AG, a fabulous wine and spirits store, which will consume much of my free cash! Basel seems to be filled with countless events and a rich culture, and the EF contributors really seem to actively embrace it.

Anyway, this is my intro and I look forward to meeting the EF spectrum, from infant and newbie to the Legends!

Ciao Ciao

Re: New Resident to Basel

I have worked in Berkeley and lived in Martinez for 10+ years. So, The City of South San Francisco? Didn't spend any time there except on the way to SFO. Definitely miss being on the water and 30 min from SF and Napa. I am finding some lovely vineyards in the vicinity!

Easy peasy. Fifteen burrito shops, three mexican supermarkets. Next!

Re: New Resident to Basel

Welcome to Basel.

As you've probably already discovered, Paul Ullrich have a great calendar of tastings. The champagne one at the end of November is a definite highlight :-)

Mövenpick also have tastings and events. Plus this is a wonderful region for wine exploration with Alsace only an hour away. Enjoy!!
