My Name is Heather and I am brand new to this forum, which I found through a Google Search. I live with my husband and four young daughters in a suburb of Chicago, IL - USA. I am hoping to learn more about my Swiss heritage and possibly find relatives.

Hi and welcome!

To best find out about Switzerland, you should come and visit. Most people live in Switzerland's big cities on this forum so sometimes the opinions you get are formed by that. However, big cities are MUCH different than the villages, where I'm guessing your ancestors came from.

Hi and welcome. The Swiss keep extensive records, If you know the "Heimatort" of your relatives, this is a good starting point.

Re: New to this forum

thank you for these tips ... I have a specific name and approximate age of a person I am looking for, unfortunately, I have learned that her last name is very common - equivalent of "Smith" in the US.

I am looking for Hedy Muller, and she would be 66 or 67 years old. Can someone recommend a forum on here that I may be able to join where I could discuss that?

I would LOVE to come to Switzerland - it would be my dream come true! I would love to show my children some of their heritage. My husband and I have talked before about renting a house or villa for a month or so during the summer and keeping that as a "home base" then travelling to different parts of the country .... but that costs a lot of money I am sure and will take a lot of planning ....I was hoping to have some family information first prior to making that journey!

Thank you for your reply!
