Basel & young mums...

Hello,

I grew up in Basel so know the area pretty well, but I have only just moved back after 7 years in the UK. I have a little boy who is 3 and would love to meet some young mums to get together with and find out what Basel has to offer the little ones. I am single, 25 and also looking for (part-time) work here in Basel.

It'd be great to hear back from anyone who can relate to my post...

Naomi

Re: Basel & young mums...

Hi Naomi,

I'm a 26yr old english nanny who looks after a 3 year old boy on Mondays and Tuesdays in Zurich. Let me know if you want to arrange play dates etc?

Thanks,
Sam

Check the BCT, Basel Childrens Trust. They have lots of playgroups on through the week and Neighbourhood coordinators who help connect people in the different parts of Basel. Basel is a great place for kids once you can find what is going on. Also the Crossroad Church has a playgroup, and Open Door runs one too I think. Start with the BCT and see if that helps.
Good luck

Re: Basel & young mums...

Hello,

I hope the move went well! I think I have just about figured out how the swiss toddler group system works. They seem to run 'Offener Treffpunkts' in each town. They tend to run everyday and are free of charge, the one we have been to in Gundeli Basel Stadt, has a playroom full of (second hand) toys and a cafe attached. I suppose it depends on what you are looking for and what the one closest to you has to offer! I think some offer activities or trips out which may cost a small fee. If you go too www.ebbi.ch then click on FAZ - Familienzentrum, Aesch should come up as the first town, if you click that it will tell you where and when the group runs...(it's all in German but fairly straight forward)

The BCT website is all in english and really easy to understand, the group we used to go to met at Burgweg 7 not far from Wettsteinplatz (tram 15 & 2 bus 34 & 31) it's for 3-5yrs and run by a really lovely girl called Fatima. I have her contact details if you would like them. That group is not busy at all and younger children are there too. They tend to do a seasonal craft, then a snack, free play, games and a story to finish. My little boy thoroughly enjoyed going but he is now at a nursery on fridays so we are looking for something else!

Bit of a long message but hope it helps! Unfortunately Kian (my little boy) is lying next to me with a temperature and feeling a bit worse for wear, once he's better it'd be great to get together!

Be great to hear back if the information was helpful...
