Arriving in Basel in two weeks!

Hi all,
We are due to relocate in less than 2 weeks time so I thought it was high time that I posted a short intro.

I'm originally from The Netherlands however I'm also half Irish and lived most of my adult life in Dublin. It was here I met my Geordie husband.
I've actually known this forum quite some time and all the information posted here is just fantastic.

My husband's job took us to Switzerland back in 2010 however by the time myself and the kids joined him 6 months later from Dublin he was asked to temporarily move to their Canadian office in BC. Now the time has come for us to leave this beautiful part of the world and we'll be making our way to Basel at the end of this month.

I'm both excited and anxious! Excited about this new adventure but nervous about having settle in somewhere new again and try to make friends. I'm especially keen to find some little friends for my two kids (aged 4 1/2 and nearly 3).

I look forward to getting to know Basel and the surrounding areas and hopefully meet some of EF people. Perhaps instead of being a anonymous reader, I will be able to contribute to EF in the future. Don't worry I've taken note of some of the topics that can get emotions going here e.g. smoking, high prices and complaints about the Swiss.. although they have at times made for good reading

Re: Arriving in Basel in two weeks!

Thx alanshearer! I'd guess it's save to say that you and my husband have something in common Alan Shearer is my husband's hero! He's already moaning about the fact that he'll get to see far less of his beloved Toon army on the tv as they show lots more Newcastle games here on Sportsnet than he would ever get to see back in the UK/Ireland on Sky. I know one of his first missions when we get to Basel will be to somehow get Sky installed. I've been checking the forum on this and might have a way of getting a Sky account through my mum in Ireland.

I always go to Paddy Reileys in Basel to watch the footy. They show loads of matches notbjust football and the Toon games are on there too. So if if he fancies a pint let me know. You can come too errr to pay for the beers
