Hello New in This Forum.

Hi,

My name is Dimitris. I am 23 years old and i live in thessaloniki, Greece. I have studyed computer programming and music technology and i have worked as DJ and audio engineer.

I am in love with Basel. This city is the most beautiful in the world. Like a fairytale.

I would like to move there and i would like some links or some help from you in my first steps.

What is the first think that i have to do when i am arriving to Basel? What should i do before? What i have to have in order to ask for an swiss green card? What about renting a house or finding a job?

I am just planning and i would like a few inforamations in order to plan right.

Thank you very much for your time.

Re: Hello New in This Forum.

Im sure you know this already...but there is a great Swiss shop in New Bern at the corner of Pollock and Craven. But...I'm willing to bet that you know this already.

Welcome nonetheless. I'm rather fond of New Bern and very much miss passing through on my road trips...the restaurants there are outstanding.

Mixed up message there Dimigo, Ttamasle was actually replying to another post - he's probably not awake yet!

Have a read of the various sticky threads on the forum. They'll give you a good start in understanding what you need to do. But basically you will need to get a job here to get your permit, unless you can prove to the authorities that you have several thousand Swiss Francs so you can support yourself and not be a drain on the social welfare system. Most landlords will want to see your employment contract before they'll consider letting you a place.

Re: Hello New in This Forum.

start with jobs first, put out feelers and your CV.

There are lots of companies in and around Basel that really need no German knowledge or communication skills.....you find the French and Germans speak English to each other! Only the Swiss switch seamlessly from German to French to English

Have you actually had a job yet or are you just completing postgrad studies?

Re: Hello New in This Forum.

I have not finished any university. I have just graduate from a school that here in Greece is after the high school. I do not know the equal school in switzerland. We call it IEK. Its 2 years and i want to find out if its equal with "foundation". I have finished 2 IEKs. One in programming and the other in music technology. I would like also to study in switzerland in a university. I am also searching for online education in business school or programming.

I have the A1 qualification in german, from the Goethe-Institut (Germany) and i am planning for B2 two years from know.

2 years from know i am planning to move out to different country.
