By way of introduction

Good evening to the englishforum
I arrived in Zug back in October last year already - but my office here is really a home base for travel around central and eastern europe -- so it seems that I have little time to get to know the place and the people. I was expecting that this pattern would change a bit in the new year, but doesn't look like it - so I am hoping that the forum will be a way of integrating a bit better with the short time I have actually in the country.

By way of background ... I shall be 47 yrs young in Feb, married, but separated .. with 4 children... who are either at university or school in UK.
Myself also originally from UK, but left there nearly 25yrs ago now. Spent 14 yrs in South Africa, followed by an ex-pat career taking me to Shanghai for a year, Moscow for 7 yrs, Prague for a further 2 yrs before arriving in Switzerland.
I am an engineer by profession, but these days involved in the project management of major capital investments in the emerging economies of CEE...hence the travel.
When I have free time I tend to laze around ... I like reading, cinema, socialising .....
so that's by way of a short introduction.... hope to have some correspondence from some of the members soon... definately a few pointers I already need that I will be exploring on the site

Cheers

Welcome to the EF. I am sure that there are fellow members from Zug who meet up.
I am in Vaud so a bit too far away!!

Hello Enigma,

Welcome to Zug. Have you checked out the two international clubs here? International Men's Club of Zug <website removed> and the Zug International Women's Club <website removed> depending a bit on the gender, of course (not clear from the enigmatic moniker...).

Assuming male - you might want to drop by the Parkhotel one Thursday evening for the IMCZ "Stammtisch" between 18:00 and 20:00 for a beer and a chat. We're averaging nearly 20 members on a given Thursday.

...might be a good way to make some local contacts.

David

Hiya!

Welcome to the forum! I'm in Zug as well, fairly new still as I only got here in November.

Anyone else think it's time for drinks in Zug again soon? Not sure I can wait till the end of Feb!

Enigma, if you fancy it - let us know when you might be in Zug and we could sort something out so you could come along?

Mikey
