Canadian man, new to Zurich and Switzerland

Hi All,

I'm a late 20's male from Canada, who recently moved to Zürich (3 weeks ago) for my doctorate. I'm looking to meet some english speaking people, as I don't encounter much of the language (aside from academic banter) on a daily basis, and my german/swiss-german ranges from poor to... well, non-existent.

Hiking? Drinks? I'm flexible. I look forward to meeting new people.

Cheers.

Hi and welcome.

There's quite a few Canadians around the Zurich area, most enjoy a cool alcoholic beverage.

I'm going to try and catch some of the afternoon playoff NHL games in the bars as the happen. Can let you know if you want to join.

Where in .ca are you from? If you're from Toronto I can understand that Zurich is going to come as a huge culture shock!

Hamilton certainly is an "interesting" place. Haha. I have many a friend/colleague who either currently or previously studied there.

If you're going to see one of the NHL or other games, I'm also very interested... Holland is not a (ice) hockey country, but got into the NHL while living in Vancouver for a few months...

What's with all the Ontarians?

Still, not a Torontonian so probably OK.

I'm down for a beer with a fellow Canuckian, if you don't object to slumming it with a reprobate Maritimer.

Drop me a PM.

What are you studying at UZH? I'm not Canadian, but I'm an American student at UZH.

Re: Canadian man, new to Zurich and Switzerland

Im a big NHL fan and hockey fan in general. I would love to meet up with anyone who is up for watching a game and grabbing a beer. I grew up playing. I currently live in Baden, so Zurich would be easy for me. If anyone wants to grab a beer sometime let me know!

Mike

I think you can find Canadians who don't like hockey, and Canadians who don't like beer, and I'm willing to admit that it is possible there are Canadians who like neither...

But I've never met one, and I'm Canadian

(Due disclaimer, I'm one of the non-hockey watching minority)
