Hi,
Your emplyer needs to apply for a work permit for you. Then once it is approved you would need to go to the Swiss Embassy in India and get the Visa Stamped. I wouldnt advice coming here on Tourist visa and applying for a Job.

Re: From India to Switzerland

Thanks all for replies.. pleasant to see all the responses.

Neerajana: well i am waiting for my wife to join me in geneva (her dependent visa is in process .. not sure how long will it take) and then we will be a family

Puujick: About WP .. its right that my employer did all the formalities for me & I wont' recommend that you come on tourist visa and appy for job. Look for a better and correct approach if you wish to come here!

Re: From India to Switzerland

Hi,

welcome to switzerland- Geneva, even i have moved in here very recently, since the last 2 months.

As i understand, that people are very warm and helpful on this site. Well, i have a couple of queries, can anyone help me with these:

- I wish to get my mother here on a dependent visa- Would be great to hear from you if you could let me know the concerned authority or the process to get her here

Thanks & look forward to your response soon.

Take care,
Anupama

Re: From India to Switzerland

As far I as know, you can get only your spouse and children as dependants here. Your mother can come here on a maximum of 3 month visitor visa, for which you need to apply at the Swiss Embassy in Mumbai or Delhi.

Re: From India to Switzerland

Hi Anupama,

You can get your mother here on visitor visa .. of course; I agree with the post by 'pickles'

Anyways I think you should be able to get the correct information abt 'dependent visa' directly from the embassy here (incase you donot have someone to arrange for you visa ..as was in my case)
