The worst sin of a Basler

EF, bless me for I have sinned, I lived in Basel and then moved to Zurich.

This is my reintroduction to the EF, a sad good bye to Basel and a greeting to the Zurich crowd. Zürchers, be gentle with me.

Re: The worst sin of a Basler

I think you'll find that the whole Basel-Zurich thing is entirely a Basel phobia and that Zurich guy just don't care

That's true in my experience. Whenever I've raised the issue with Zürchers, they don't have a clue what I'm talking about. (Unless they've moved to Basel. Then they certainly do...)

That's because people in Basel wish they were in Zurich...

Keep telling yourselves that.

Seriously, I think you're right. It's like Scotland/England. Scots have a tendency to despise the English. The English generally don't care. It's not going to Zürich that's so sinful really - it's moving into Switzerland.

Actually, I think Manchester/London is a better comparison.

- Manchester/Basel: Faded glory, still arty and (somewhat) cool, very defensive about the faded glory.

- London/Zurich: Just engulfs everything now.
