Hello everybody!

Hey everybody! I'm new to the forums so I figured I would stop in here to say "Hi!"

I came to Basel, Switzerland 6 months ago from the USA (Where I have lived my whole life) and went to the University of Basel last semester. I am actually a dual American/Swiss citizen because of my mom but I really don't speak any German... although I am trying to learn!

I've been sneaking around reading all your guy's posts for a while so.... I decided I should quit being creepy, introduce myself, and hop on the bandwagon!

I am 21 years old, Male, Single and I'm interested in tons of stuff. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on what you guys post in the event section!

Oh.... and I've been looking out for some volunteering opportunities that I could participate in around Basel (purely volunteer... lol just have some free time and want to help out).... so If you guys know of anything that I could do that doesn't involve knowing the German language I would be glad to hear about it! Preferably not just having me come over to mow your lawn or something !

Well I hope to get to know you guys better and hopefully contribute a little to the English Forums.

(Yes I am aware I used tons of smileys )

Thanks for the info ! But yeah, how could I NOT know that it's going on... I can hear it going on outside. I was out there for the "Morgenstreich" at 4 a.m. this morning ... it was BEAUTIFUL!

I was out there this evening also, but I'm tucking in early tonight. I guess I'll have plenty of time to see more of it though! Too bad the Trams don't work in the morning though! They make me walk everywhere !

Oh and if you live in Switzerland and haven't seen the Basel Fasnacht you are DEFINATELY missing out!

Re: Hello everybody!

Welcome to the forum. How long are you planning to stay in Switzerland? How's the German going for you so far? You seem to be in a similar boat as I. I'm a guy, 22 years old, single, only speak English, learning German at the moment, looking for a job, volunteer work etc.

Anyway, good luck finding volunteer work. I hope things work out for you. If I ever get over to Basel I'll get in touch and maybe we can grab a beer and go hunting for some Basler broads.

Re: Hello everybody!

Have you thought of joining Centrepoint in Basel.?? Is an International social group with a lot of activities and there is always need for a volunteer there!
