Help... of any kind

We are leaving Malaysia at the end of May, to take up a new post in Geneva. As yet we don't know where we will be living, but I am keen to try and make some friends as soon as possible (before we even arrive if I can!)

I would welcome any help and advice on moving to and settling in Switzerland. I have a 23 month old daughter, and am expecting in August, so baby groups, medical advice, day nurseries etc etc would be of much interest, but all advice would be great. I have tried to read up as much as I can, but I know from moving to Malaysia that what you read, and what is real, is not necessarily the same thing!

Looking forward to our move

KT

Hi & welcome to the forum, you'll find that there are plenty of people in the Geneva area, who will e happy to give you pointers for most of what you ask.
In the meantime, heres a resource list that is well worth reading through :

Selamat datang Karen T

Perhaps the Family Matters forum will be good for starters. http://www.englishforum.ch/family-matters/

I have visited Geneva only for a few days, but am sure many members can be more helpful to you if you have a specific query.

hi Karen T, this is a little off topic ( ok a lot ) from what you asked about but having checked your profile I thought you might be interested in the local drama society

http://www.geds.ch/

( they are always looking for volunteers, and or they put on a couple of great shows a year for those rare nights out. )

Re: Help... of any kind

Thanks for the replies I will work my way through the info!!

Also, could anyone recommend a good OB? I will be about 28 weeks pregnant when we arrive and so am keen to get booked in with an OB before we even leave Malaysia.

Thanks again
