I am moving to Lausanne in few weeks time The opportunity of new adventure is really exciting me but I am kind of nervous as well. Being alone in a new place is really scary feeling. Any social events or happening places where I can meet people?

Thanks lost_inbroad, I was there in Lausanne for the weekend and found its very quiet as compared to London. I am kind of scared to move in and I am scared I'll be lonely. Can you give any suggestions on place to go to meet new people?

Moving anywhere will have that effect at first. Each time I visit Minimia in Lausanne I see a lot going on for nightlife at least. If you put yourself out there, you will make friends eventually.

I get the whole nervous thing. What kind of friendships are you looking for? I ask because the age range on this forum is varied, there is a large community of anglo students who party and then there are professionals that are 30 and 40 and into sports and more calm get togethers. It would help me to help you if you can give me a bit of information about you.

There is loads going on here. I always recommend getting yourself to some Glocals events to start with - lots of sport, evenings out, brunches etc. http://www.glocals.com/

Been here just over a year now. Plenty of recommendations!!

The Great Escape is a popular bar by the cathedral. Gosses du Quebec and Crazy Canucks are favourites too. Bar Tabac is our favourite place in town - great for coffee and they have 60 Belgian beers for the evening!

Chez Xu is the best Chinese we've found so far. Vapiano is pretty reasonable with food they cook in front of you. Boccalino down in Ouchy does some great pizza. Depends how much you want to spend really... Le Chat Noir does some top food, but considerably more expensive than Iberico!!
