Hello everyone!

I have been reading loads of stuff on these forums, seems there are many others also working in the Pharma community.

If I get the job I will be starting in a few weeks, I will need to stay in a hotel for the first week until I find an apartment etc.

I plan to fly out next week for a few days to check Basel out!

I am a social person and will be looking out for nice people to spend downtime with.

Any advice etc is welcomed

Welcome to the Forum Lola-Lou. Basle is fairly vibrant, especialy with the art scene, and yes Basel is very busy with phamaceuticals.

Keep an eye on our Events Calendar, and you will get to know people in Basel.

Welcome to the forum and hopefully soon to Basel.

I lived in Basel for 8 years and just recently moved over the border. It's a great place to live but takes some getting used to as it is very different to the UK.

A word of warning, it may take longer than a few weeks to find an apartment as housing in Basel is getting more and more limited. I didn't realise this until recently when advertising my old place. The number of applicants were huge and so many people commented that it is really difficult these days.

I would recommend trying to negotiate a 3 month company paid apartment as part of your relocation package to give you enough time. Hotels would end up being very costly for more than a few weeks.

I'm in a similar situation and will be moving from the UK to Basel at the start of October. Will be looking to meet new people and hang out in Basel. Also looking for apartments and having to sort residence permits etc. If you want to share any experiences in doing this send me a message...

Hi Lola_lou (and also Dixie). I am living in Basel at the moment and love it! Moved to Basel last year, and it's really grown on me. To search for apartments, the best websites I found were comparis.ch (as it gives an overview of a lot of different websites listings) homegate.ch, newhome.ch and immoscout24.ch. Also if you're on Facebook, there is a group called Basel buy and sell, and people sometimes list apartments on there. PLus of course on here as well (although it's mostly Zurich and Geneva listings on here).

When you both move out, let me know if you want to meet up for a drink or whatever, and we can meet up.
