| | Hello!! Italian couple moving from UK to Zurich end of May
Hello everyone!
My name is Elena and I will be moving to Zurich with my husband at the end of May. I will start my PhD at ETH on 1st June, he is looking for a job but hasn't found anything yet...hopefully it will be a bit easier once we are there
We are both from Italy but we've been living in UK for the past 4/5 years.
We are going to drive to Switzerland with out little FIAT Panda so basically we are not sure yet we'll actually get there
I have been reading this forum for a few weeks now, so it was about time I posted an introduction!!
Hope to get to know you better | This user would like to thank Mimiabroad for this useful post:

Lincoln Cathedral is out and out the most precious piece of architecture in the British Isles and roughly speaking worth any two other cathedrals.
I hope you have a head for heights, Zurich is 387 meters higher than Lincoln!

I was born very close to the mountains and miss them a lot! So looking forward to moving to Zurich!
I thought I was going to miss UK and English people after leaving...but after finding this forum I don't think that will be a problem!! | This user would like to thank Mimiabroad for this useful post:

Hope to get to know you better | | | | | Welcome, but sadly your first introduction to Switzerland will be the motorway tax for your car at the border. The vignette costs 40CHF (€33.33 – you can pay in euros)

Well...coming from a country (Italy) where that sum is just about enough for a return trip to the mountains (1.5h drive) I am very happy to pay 33€ for the whole year!!! !!

I used FIAT-126 and FIAT-UNO to get on Holidays from Zürich to Paris and London and to Bordeaux, Marseilles and Torino, so that I do not see a problem

looked at the Lincoln Cathedral. Is that late Gothics or very early Renaissance ?

Wishing you a safe journey to Switzerland and that you will enjoy life here. I am also new but am finding my way around and have just started to make a few friends. Takes time but well worth it. Welcome!!
