| | Greetings from Texas!
Hello Everyone,
Here's my first post(!)...
I'm partially of Swiss descent, but born and raised in the U.S. Over the years I've spent a few summers with Swiss relatives (Winterthur) and visited friends and relatives in Switzerland (Basel, Zürich, Zug, Ticino), and have always been fond of the culture and climate.
Lately I've grown interested in exploring employment and living possibilities in Switzerland, thinking my family might benefit from a few years outside the American paradigm. (Searching the web for Swiss job prospects is how I found this forum.) It may just be a pipe dream, but those haven't exactly been uncommon in my life, and exploring the options can be an adventure in its own right.
From what I've seen so far, this appears to be a pleasant and friendly community, so I could hardly resist joining. Thanks to everyone for all the rich content here. I hope my membership will be a positive contribution.
Cheers,
Tim

Howdy,
Some of the greatest things start as pipe dreams. What part of Texas are you from, and what kind of work do you do?

Howdy, Tim. I moved here in May 2007 after 8 years in Texas and I sincerely regret the decision. YMMV. Better luck!
Best regards,
Markus (formerly of 76248 fame ... still a home-owner there, unfortunately)

Hi Tim,
Welcome to the forum from a native Texan! Let me know
if you have specific questions.
What is your line of business? We could perhaps give you
an idea of employers in your field in Switzerland.
Cheers,
Grant

Cheers,

Welcome, Fellow American!
I've met a few other Americans as well as Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders of Swiss extraction who have also moved here to discover their Swiss roots. They seem to be enjoying the experience and learning a lot from it. So, you and your family would be in good company and may also enjoy exploring another dimension of your heritage
Best of luck to you and please keep us posted. | Quote: | | | | | Hello Everyone,
