| | Moving to Geneva in July
Hi Everyone,
Wanted to do the decent thing and introduce myself finally, after doing some serious lurking. My wife and I are moving to Geneva in July it seems. We just got confirmation that she got the job.
We currently live in Sydney. I’m Danish and she's English. We weren’t really planning on moving back to Europe as life in Australia suits us pretty well but the opportunity was too hard to turn down. Also, skiing.
I'll most likely be bombarding these boards with inane questions and queries but for now I’ll keep it short and sweet. Looking forward to chatting to you all.
Cheers,
Jodal

Welcome! Do you know where in Geneva you'll be living? Renting or buying?
This is quite small scale city but with plenty to do still (except Sundays, where you must aim for the outdoor activities, everything else is shut). Lake activities from May till end of September, winter sports from December till March/April and so many European cities within easy reach...you'll love it!

Jodal, a most warm welcome! What are your plans for employment in or around the City of Calvin? Where will your wife be working?
Geneva/Switzerland are most unlike Oz, as is the way of life, but nothing ventured, nothing gained!
All the best to you both. Keep in touch!

We're planning on renting somewhere reasonably near to the centre but no idea yet as to exactly where yet. Might be a separate post on that coming up. | Quote: | | | | | This is quite small scale city but with plenty to do still (except Sundays, where you must aim for the outdoor activities, everything else is shut). Great to meet you all!

I don't think it denigrates Geneva at all, the easy access is a big plus for us as we'll be flying to the UK and Denmark a lot. We also want to visit all those European countries we neglected last time we lived on this continent.

No need for a flight to go to Italy, for example: within 1 hour's drive you've crossed to border and you are in the beautiful Aosta valley region. Direct train Geneva-Venice (7 hours but beautiful journey and still the old-fashion restaurant on board!). France of course almost within walking distance.
