Moving in, moving schools and asking employer for assistance

hi all,

My husband is moving to zurich end of june and i will be joining with the kids sometime in august.
Our eldest should gomto primary school ( i read somewhere schools in zurich open in August).

My husband's company will be providing a flat for him for a couple of months.

My question is, given we will be moving soon after his school starts, is it ok to move him schools or can the new school say they have no spaces?

I am referring to state schools.

Also, another question, not relvant to education this time.

If the company has offered to find him an appartment, would it be rude of us to ask if they can find an appartment in which we can settle in rather than moving after 2 months?

I wouldnt want to come across ungrateful to them or them taking offence in me asking, so if anyone has an opinion in this, olease share....

Many many thanks
A.

Hi,
here you will find useful infos and forms for primary school https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/ssd/de/...imarstufe.html . Try to translate the german page, don't switch to the English version of the page because it's not complete.
About the apartment, probably it's some furnished short rent one, like Swiss Star or City Star. In this case I strongly suggest you to start to look for an apartment as soon as possible.
Good luck!

Re: Moving in, moving schools and asking employer for assistance

Thank you so much! I feel a bit lost with everything, ideally i would much prefer to be there before school started but it's not realistic, so stressing a bit how hard it will be for him to adjust to the new culture and language, let alone be planted in a class a month after the rest of the kids...

Many thanks again...
