Moving to Zurich next July

Hi there,My family and I are moving to Zurich next Summer after a long time living and working in Dubai. I am looking at 2 international schools.....Zurich International and the Intercommunity School in Zumikon. I have heard that both are fantastic, however I am unsure of what the journey to Zumikon would be like from surrounding areas? I have been told this is an expensive area and so we would likely look to rent across the river. Could anyone provide further info on where would be good to live for either school? Many thanks

Welcome to the Forum Jo Inferno.

You can look at property prices below: a 4.5 room apartment has 3 bedrooms, a lounge and a kitchen/diner (Bath, shower, attic, cellar are mentioned as well). On top of the basic rental expect to pay about Fr 300 for heating and services, plus the cost of electricity,

Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, public transport is excellent here, the web page for Swiss Railways will calculate any journey, including buses, trams and trains, just type in the 2 addresses,

Now you can at least relax, kiss your partner (male or female) and not get 20 lashes. It might get some getting used to but stick to it. Be warned though, girls and boys in the same class and mixed swimming up `till 10 years old or so. Are you really ready for that?

They even allow openly drinking alcohol on the trains here! (Not on the buses, but even there you won't get any lashes)

I found it quite gross, actually, when I sat across somebody who drank two 0.5l cans of beer between Wil and Zurich - at around 09:30 AM.
Overall, drug abuse here is probably on-par with Dubai (and other places in the Near East). There's just less bigotry about it.
