New to the forum - Swiss married to an English man

Hello

I am new to this forum.

I am actually Swiss, but I am married to a Mancunian (Manchester, UK) and I was looking for a job for my hubby and ended up on this forum! I lived in the US for 1 1/2 years, then when we got married we lived in the UK for 3 1/2 years and are now back in Switzerland for 2 years.

This forum seems to be brilliant and will help him with a lot of things, as I work 100% and it often is difficult for me when I come home after work to translate things (even though he speaks some German and understands a lot).

This forum surely will help us a lot, finding a job again for my hubby or starting our own business. Being able to talk about things here in Switzerland and getting to know other English speaking people etc etc etc.

This forum is brilliant from what I could see

Well, welcome SwissMiss ! I've been lurking here for several months, until now when I finally started to post. I agree this place is absolutely brilliant, and I guess we might even be of help reg. you husband's job hunting. What does he do ? I guess a short description should do to see if anyone has a good pointer/contact.

Re: New to the forum - Swiss married to an English man

Hi Caleb

Nice to get a response so quickly.

He is a MSI Packaging Engineer (using Wise Packaging Studio and various other applications). This is mostly used for migration projects from Windows NT to Windows XP.

He has worked for Swisslife and then for XL Insurance (both in Zürich), but the projects ended and thus did his contracts.

I hope this helps, if not, then let me know. We are planning on posting something in the "Job" section later on.

Many thanks anyhow.

Then why not get him to provide some details re his knowledge of packaging. I might know someone. Also what environment was it done in, Macrovision?

Hi Richard ... you look familiar but I am not sure where I have seen you before

I am an MSI packager and can use both WISE and Macrovision (Installshield) ... I prefer WISE, it is just a lot faster and produces much 'purer' MSI setups.

But to be honest I can do much more than just package software, I am also very good with web design/development, admin (Windows/UNIX), support, troubleshooting (including crash dump analysis etc.)

PM me for my CV.

Thanks

Mike
