Hello - relocating to Zurich in August

Hi everybody

My name is Marko. I will be relocating from Bratislava, Slovakia (where I live now) to Zurich in August 2008. I just wanna say how glad I am to find this forum with so many posts, advices etc... I will be working in energy trading sector and will be joined by my girlfriend and cat in September (hopefully ) As we are not so far away from Switzerland it shouldn't be too hard to move by car...I prefer airplane but I am not so sure about the cat.. she never tried that and hopefully will never have to (she can be really mean when she doesn't like something ). I'll be looking for apartment and everything else, but I'll be asking about those things on other threads. Ok, that's it for now, I hope I'll connect with members of this forum, share experiences, advices etc.

thx.

MrCo

Welcome to the forum, MrCo. Hope your relocation goes smoothly and your 'grumpy' cat takes it in stride. (How about a dog then?)

Welcome, see you in August

Greetings, Marko. Will be happy to see you there when you come - I'll also be rather new still, moving to Zürich next week.

And try your best not to be intimidated by the home search in Zürich - getting something for rent in the city is an ordeal by itself, and I'm still grabbed with some frustration by it once in a while.

Oh, no, Longbyt, there's no such thing. You see - cats are beyond this stage of globalization already - save for subtle matters of accent and local dialect which we humans are often too dumb to notice, Meow is the same Meow, and when any cat speaks, be it the smallest Felis Domesticus or a huge Panthera Tirgis Altaica, it's intelligible to any other cat in the world.

May your cat have a purrfect trip, MrCo, and don't forget to carry all his toys and belongings with you, or he may just take a train to Bratislava one day (in first class, of course) to fetch them!

Re: Welcome, see you in August

thanks.
exactly, cats are much better off than we humans. When moving to Switzerland I have to be frustrated about German language, that I don't really speak, and the only problem the cat has is how to get there (or maybe she doesn't, I'll have to ask her ). Anyway, this idea with a train is not so bad. The only problem is that I am not sure if there is a possibility to put the car on the train when traveling from Vienna to Zurich. Any ideas?? hmmm...I'll have to check. But I guess night train (sleeping train) would be much better for that 10 hour trip.
