Help! Thinking of moving to Lausanne

Hi

I am a 30 year old single professional male from London.

There is a chance that I may be moving to Lausanne. I've yet to visit but wanted to seek a few opinions before I do.

What are people's thoughts? Is Lausanne a good place to come bearing in mind I will know no-one? My french is basic but I'd happily pick up the language quickly...

I'm looking to have a decent quality of life and want somewhere with decent bars / pubs but also somewhere I can relax when away from work.

Is Lausanne expensive. For example, what's the cost of a centrally located apartment (rental) per month? Are the bars / restaurants good? Is it easy to meet people?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. I'm really just trying to find out a bit more about a place that, until very recently, I didn't really know at all. How does it compare to Zurich and Geneva?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Help! Thinking of moving to Lausanne

Good morning and welcome to the Forum.
There is quite a large ex-pat community in Lausanne, so you will probably here from some of them soon.
I suggest you look in the appropriate places on the Forum for more details about appartments and the like. If you search 'Lausanne' you will also find more.
www.lausanne.ch/UploadedAsp/25946/25/F/HPIE.asp?Check=True&Language=E
might give you a bit of information too.
Good luck in the 'investigation'

Hi

Lausanne is lovely; excellent quality of life! I've been here for three years and see more ahead. You'll be lucky to get a job offer, unless it is something you don't like doing...

One problem: to find an apartment is not easy!
