Newly returned swiss abroad (from Australia)

gruezi mitenand!

I'm new to signing up to the forum. But i've been going through the threads for honestly about a year for information in my move here from Melbourne Australia. The forum has been a great resource. I moved to Bern mid Jan :-)

29 year old male, moved here with my partner who I met at university in Australia. He is from Tessin. Have been planning to move back to Switzerland for a couple of years and now made it happen.

I completed my bach law/arts in Melbourne and have plans to do my masters here after a year or two of settling in. Im still learning German (high german first then i'll go for swiss german, then i'll tackle french), and im at an A2 level. I've already made another thread looking for tandem partners to learn together in Bern area.

Was originally born in Zurich area, but my swiss family are all in Wallis (Visp, Brig, St Nikalus / Zermatt).

SO.... yeah. Just wanted to say hi.

Would love to hear from any other recently returned or previously returned swiss abroad. Especially in the Bern area. Or just to meet some people in the Bern area in general now that its getting a bit more sunny :-)

I love Radelaide!

And I love Geneva! I studied there for 6 weeks as part of my Australian Bachelor. And Im looking into starting a masters degree there. As well as looking for work because my field has a lot of international english speaking firms there.

Greetings from Fribourg, I also arrived not long ago from Australia (Sydney). Have you had lunch with the bears there in Bern yet?

Yeah i'm in Kanon Bern but in the Oberland (in the sticks)

Unfortunately I don't get to Bern often these days, and no, I don't know anyone else from Melbourne in CH!

Re: Newly returned swiss abroad (from Australia)

I visited Bern a few weekends ago, and the bear family were out chasing each other around in the sunshine, pretty cool! The tower of the cathedral is also a nice place to explore, good view (you can also see the bears from up there).
Apparently there is a nice animal park up the river, with a section that you can admire from the river walk without going into the park itself.

Welcome back! I'm Swiss/Australian and grew up in Melbourne and returned to Switzerland about 20 years ago. I do miss the breakfast and brunch options of Melbourne but everything else here is awesome.
