Zürich

Hello, I recently moved from the US to Switzerland because of new employment. I found this forum when googling all the information about shipping, living etc. My first impression is that this might be another old-fashioned forum that could be dead for years. But I'm really surprised to see that it's so active!

I work in Zürich and I'm still looking for apartment to live. It would be nice to make new friends. And by the way, I still have a few hundreds of cash in USD. If someone is going to the US soon, I will be happy to exchange with you personally using a medium rate (both of us win, I guess). If this "by the way" message violates the forum rules, I can delete it.

Re: Zürich

Welcome to Switzerland and to the forum. Yes, we're a lively lot here.

Hope you genned up on the US tax side of things before you left and also that you'll need to sign a W-9 to open a bank account here.

Have a look down in the Social Events section of the forum to see if there are any events/meetup/get togethers that you could go along to. And you could always pop along to Grumpygrapefruit's "Great British Cheese" shop in the Viadukt to say hello.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes I already finished the tax return. I did sign a W-9 form with the bank here, but I found it very strange in my case. I'm opening another post just to see what other people would say. The Viadukt looks like a wonderful place. I will definitely check it out.
