Canada to Lausanne

Hi everyone,

I'm a 47 year old teacher who accepted a contract to teach near Lausanne (moving in a few weeks!) for a couple of years. I'm really excited to live in Switzerland, have some new experiences, and meet some new people!

I'm glad I came across this Forum; I'm sure it will be a help!

It's a good thing I don't care about the other two, but lack of Cheesies does give me pause.

Welcome to the forum and soon to Switzerland.

You'll find other foodie info like the lack of acceptable brown sugar here down in the Food & Drink section of the forum.

Hi, welcome, I like your handle.
Isn't travelling about food as well? We got junk-food here too, no worries.

Re: Canada to Lausanne

Don't forget brown sugar, dryer sheets, big box of baking soda, maple syrup, Coffee Crisp, Kashi or Kind granola bars, dill pickle chips, peanut M&Ms, your favourite Campbell soup, Kraft M&C, butter tarts, peameal bacon, poutine, nanaimo bars, Timbits, and what the heck, beaver tails while you are at it.

That being said, it's really lovely here and I'm sure you'll stop comparing after some time.

Cheers!

That's quite a list and now i"m hungry!

I am sure I'll be fine in the food department but thanks for the info! I'm not one to live in a constant state of comparison, so it's all good!

I *love* exploring the new food options! If only eating out wasn't so expensive (from what I read!).

Thanks, Medea! I'll definitely check out the F&D section! Interesting about the brown sugar but, considering I haven't bought any over here in ages, I'm sure I can make do!

Fine ground raw sugar, which is sold here, mixed with maple syrup, also sold here but incredibly expensive, works like a charm.
