New guy introduction

Hello,

I'm a 17 year old guy, living in Aran, about 5 kilometers from Lausanne in Vaud. I'm currently studying in high school (Chamblandes).
I've been living in Switzerland for the past 5 years, having moved from Dubai in 2012. I'm fluent in English, French, Czech and Hungarian
I'm an avid trekker and climber and have recently become very interested in mountaineering.
I guess you would mostly expect mountainous posts from me. This being said, if anyone is alone in the mountains and is looking for a partner, I'd gladly join you, always an option I value due to the dangers of not being roped up.

Cheers

- Adam

Welcome to the Forum. It's a bit far from you but maybe you'd still be interested in the walk this weekend?

Sorry man I'm skiing this weekend, maybe some other time? And yeah you're right about it being a little far haha, seeing as you live in Bern it's 2 hours by train. Either way nice to meet you and thanks.

To be clear, it's not my event. It's Uncle Max's, but since you said you like hiking and whatnot I thought it might interest you. Maybe watch for the next one.

The guy climbs mountains .... you can hardly call the Uetliberg a mountain, 3Wishes

Adam, the Uetliberg is a hill in Zurich, 870m above sea level but Zurich itself is already on 408m . Cute but probably not your thing.

Right, guess I would've been slightly underwhelmed after the 2 hour train ride to get there haha. Thanks for the heads up.

Dobroš. We climb - but indoor, Gland has a decent club. The outdoor climbing hasn't appealed yet to us.

I don't even know where Uetlisomething is, but it is probably pretty. Everything is pretty here.

I climb 5 flights of stairs to work everyday, it keeps one fit! Welcome to the forum. If you do a search, I'm sure there are plenty of Alpine climbing clubs, including in Lausanne.

Hey, what do I know. Berg = mountain in German, right? So it's gotta be taller than a soccer field. Could still be a nice way to meet others even if it's not a challenge.

Hi, yeah I am a member of the CAS (Swiss Alpine Club), although their outings on high altitude mountains are rare nowadays because of the apparent danger they pose to groups climbing and whatnot. The most efficient way to climb is with a single climbing partner you can trust, which is surprisingly hard to find. And yeah sometimes 5 flights of stairs can seem like a more enduring workout than anything you've done, especially if it's to get to work haha.

I climb in Rocspot, in Lausanne. Gland is a bloc gym if i'm correct, there are no ropes and it goes up to a maximum of 5 meters. But great for practicing bouldering.

Hi OP, welcome to EF.

I‘m pretty certain people climb 4000m peaks for the same reason they climb local hills: The Bratwürst afterwards.

Jo. We bolder. It is not overcrowded and sweaty, but nice and spider-y.
