Hallo from Australia

Hallo
Ich komme aus Australian aber mag ich Deutsch sprechen.
I come from Australia but I love speaking German.

I have joined this forum so I can practice my German skills and maybe make some friends.

I also joined in order to see if anyone has any ‘Migros MiniMania’ Lebensmittel / grocery toys they no longer want.

I have tried to buy some via ricardo.ch but I am waiting for my verification code to arrive in the post. It might take a long time since I am on the other side of the world

Anyway, g’day from Australia, have a nice day

Stimmt. Aber die Diskussione sind ganz alt und die letzte Nachricht war im Jahr 2015 geschrieben. Ich sehe dass dort es gibt kein mehr Unterstützung sowie Interesse von verschiedenen Teilnehmern. Schade.

Seems like we have to spice it up a bit over there or give it some more juice!

Why is it controversial?
I just like collecting miniature groceries; I have some from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. When I found the Migros ones I became very excited because they have German words on them

The Australian customs will have so much fun pulling apart these looking for drugs etc!

Why? If necessary you could always change your alias. And you can't practice German on here, it's English only.

As for buying minimania stuff, perhaps also check out tutti.ch and anibis.ch. Beware, AFAIK there's zero buyer protection. In my very limited experience the risk is fairly small as the transactionis are usually on small amounts, but then again I may have been simply lucky.

But doesn't shipping to Oz cost an arm and a leg? At least relative to the value of the goods.

LOL yes lots of tiny groceries to check for drugs.
Maybe a small packet of küchentücher to hide the meth.
Or blue Total packet to hide the cocaine.
Hopefully they realise it’s just plastic toys and don’t destroy them.

Do the Australian customs search all bags of people coming in. 20 years ago it was not like that. Watching these Australian customs documentaries on TV it looks that way.

Welcome to the EF, good luck improving your German here!

If you're in Sydney, perhaps you could try hanging out at the Concordia Club - I know a few of the staff there are German-speaking.

They never seem to search my bags ... although I bet that after this post, they will the next time I go back to visit! The main reason most of Australia has crappy internet speeds is that ASIO is using all international bandwidth tracing the posts of Australians living abroad, especially in Switzerland ...
