Moving from London to Zug

Hello
I am moving to Zug next year with my family ( my partner and I and two boys who are six and two.) We are planning to rent from next spring. We are going to put the children into local schools. It is a bit scary but we are looking forward to the change. Fiann

Welcome to the forum and soon to Switzerland.

You'll find plenty of info in the various sticky threads here on the forum and I also suggest you get hold of a copy of "Living and Working in Switzerland" by David Hampshire. It's full of useful info for both before and after you move. You can order it at your local bookshop or via the internet.

Re: Moving from London to Zug

Welcome to the forum and all the best luck in your move to Zug. Everyone I know who has moved here absolutely loves it, but be prepared for a very small town compared to London. You will have to forego some of the 'big city' benefits, but with a young family the benefits massively outweigh the loss.

Use the forum to find out almost everything you need to know, it has been an invaluable resource to me and if you need any tips or tricks, or require some additional advice, please feel free to reach out to me, by PM. I've been here for just over 6 years, so know a few 'shortcuts'!

All the best
Nick

Given the number of times Medea recommends that book to newcomers, I have formed the belief that he/she IS David Hampshire...

(It is a very good book, BTW)

If only! I bought the book before we moved for exactly the same reason many of you will have - to find out more about living and working here. Mine was a 6th edition copy. First edition was way back in 1988.

David Hampshire specialises in these types of books and has over 20 titles to his name. You'll find most of them published by Survival Books and of course you can order them via Amazon, other internet booksellers or your local bookshop.

Re: Moving from London to Zug

Welcome to Zug! I have arrived mid Sep 18 with my wife and my 10 months boy.

I am coming from São Paulo Brazil so I be prepared for a huge difference. But you gotta be open minded to see the pros. People is very kind here.

Moving is challenging but Zug region is nice.

All the best!
