From Tennessee to Lausanne

Hi Everyone. I am very pleased to see this forum, its an awesome idea and I'm sure has been helpful to lots! My name is Jessica, my boyfriend and I are moving to Lausanne in a couple of weeks. He will be playing for the Professional LNA basketball team in Lausanne this year. We lived in London this past year, where i studied and am currently finishing up my Masters Degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice and Social Research.
We are both very excited about our year (and maybe more!) in Switzerland, specifically the city of Lausanne. We are diligently planning on learning French this year, as we both want to be AT LEAST, trilingual during our life-time! We're also stoked about the chocolate selection we have heard about, among other things! I am hoping to get a job in my field this year, (if possible) and hope to get in on the places to ski, kayak and rock climb whilst in the city! I am also a big-time theater goer and love art galleries and music festivals! Basically love most things (especially Sushi)! Hope to find out what everyone else is interested in. Please feel free to contact me, especially if your a woman, as i'm going to be missing my gal-friends back home!!!

Which is the second one?

If you are into outdoor sports then Switzerland is the place to be!

Re: From Tennessee to Lausanne

welcome to Lausanne. I am pretty sure you will like it. Its pretty beautiful place. People from english forum in lausanne, meet every two weeks on thursday evenings for drinks/social. I will definitely recommend to attend one of these evenings. You get to meet alot of friendly people there. As far as sushi is concerned, I found it quite expensive compared to Toronto. But there are one or two good places that I can recommend.
Good luck with your move.

Welcome to the Forum.
Nice to have good enthusiastic posts full of pep and ginger.
You'll certainly find plenty to do in the Lausanne region.

I think in ye olden days, the only team in the German speaking part of Switzerland was CVJM Birsfelden. I've just looked it up and their Vice President is in all probability the chap I used to work with in Basel in 1972. He played for Birsfelden and his brother was in the National Team. Sorry - this info is a bit out of date for you!
Back on theme - Good Wishes to you both.

Well currently we only speak English, he is British and i am American. French will be our second language and then we plan to learn Spanish after that. Thank you for response! And maybe you can give me some tips on locations for outdoor sports.
