Hello from an Indian in Valais

Hello all,

I've recently moved to Martigny, Valais from India for PhD/Work. I've been here for a few months and my lack of French seems to be affecting my social life a bit. So, hoping to catch up with some expat crowd nearby.

Cheers!

It would be good idea to start learning French too.

Yes. Started it However the progress is very slow, as my day-to-day working environment is fully in English.

I worked in Martigny for half a year and it was a depressing hole in the evenings. I chose to live in Lausanne and commute by train. And I spoke French at a near native level so it wasn't a language issue. Not that Lausanne is exactly a bustling hub but it's Vegas in comparison. Maybe you'll have better luck in Martigny than I did, but consider coming up and checking Lausanne out. Definitely for Bollyfood Nite at the end of this month. As you're doing a PhD you might want to check out the events organised by the EPFL's Indian association YUVA as well.

Aaah! Lausanne was definitely a lot livelier than Martigny in my experience too.

Thank you for the links. Will check them out!

Are you still coming over to Martigny?
