A Hong Kong-based Asian guy wants to pursue a new life in Switzerland

A Hong Kong-based Asian guy wants to pursue a new life in Switzerland since the economy here has been hit hard by months of social movement as well as recent coronavirus. I'm unemployed currently.

I don't speak German, French or Italian, only speak English, Mandarin Chinese, some Cantonese and Thai.

Is it possible to secure a job if I go to learn German for a period of time? And whether Swiss government is very strict about working visa?

Any suggestions? Advices? Or recommendations?

I had a 2-week stay in Switzerland last month, and visited Zurich, Lugano, Interlaken, Murren, Geneva, Rigi and Lucerne. I really enjoyed my time in these nice places.

I was reached by quite a lot of guys throughout the stay, but some are too old or young for me, some are too slutty or slavelike, and some are in open relationships, I'm not lucky enough to encounter a decent person......

I hereby guarantee that, even without knowing what your professional skills and background are, that if you learn 137 words of German you will get a job that pays a minimum of 200k a year and will also meet your dream non-slutty man.

Either this topic is a joke or OP is a joke, in both cases I feel any advice is wasted.

Yes, the Swiss goverment are very strict about permits to live/work here. As a non-EU national a Swiss employer has to apply for a permit for you if they want to hire you and have to prove they can't find a Swiss/EU national who could do the job. Plus you need to have a university degree and several years of work experience in the field.

Re: A Hong Kong-based Asian guy wants to pursue a new life in Switzerland

After living in Hong Kong for quite a long time, I moved to Switzerland. It would be difficult for you to find a job without speaking the local language. The only areas you could have a chance is in finance or in a commercial area with growth prospects in Asia. Switzerland is very expensive, so it is also recommended that you secure a job before moving here. At the same time it is also easier to find a job when you live nearby, you would hardly get in interview from Hong Kong. There are several websites for you to find temporary/furnished flats.
Good luck!

That’s very kind of you to share the information with me. Thanks a lot.
I do possess university degrees (B.A. & M.A.) and have worked for years in different fields.

My husband for one. He hadn't been to the country until he came over for a job interview.

Me too, only 2 Skype interviews before accepting the contract. Never been to Europe before. But these are odd cases, most of people get here as a tourist first, or because of having a Swiss bf or gf, family, etc.

Correct, circuses usually don’t ask for permits. But it’s full of slutty people, so OP may not want to work for them.

Not read the Foreign Nationals Act on permits for circus workers and the like then. Nor are they slutty.
