Just wanted to introduce myself. I am an Australian (Melbourne) just arrived in Zurich about 3 weeks ago. Wanted to try living in a European city besides UK. And also my partner is Swiss, so voila! Here I am! I know 2 people in this city so far. So looking to make friends! Are there many Aussies out there?!! (Not that I just want to make friends with Aussies, but was interested to know how many Aussies there were in Zurich!).

I grew up on the UK then lived in Sydney/The Berra for 10 yrs for school/uni etc.
I moved back to the UK on my own 3 yrs ago to work and got sick of London earlier this year. I have been in Zurich 1 week now (woohoo, milestone!) and moved here because my english boyfriend moved over with his work. I am loving it so far but struggling to find a job. I am 28 and looking to meet people too, I think my boyfriend and I will drive eachother mad if we have to spend much more time 1 on 1 building ikea furniture ;-)

Same here, half aussie (29yo). Grew up in Germany, but lived in Sydney for the last 10 years for Uni and work . will be moving to Zurich TOMORROW!! Wohoo!

Where in Sydney were you based and which uni did you go to?
Zurich is great - the weather is fab, the lake is amazing, loads of water sports etc going on - it is almost like Sydney but with snow covered mountains around it and complete with an ozone layer ;-)

Lived at the central cost first, then moved to Neutral Bay for the last 5 years. Went to Newcastle and Sydney Uni before starting work.

Well, yeah I know German, but believe me...in the one week I spent in Zurich a couple of weeks ago to look for appartments I realised how different Swiss German is, but its exciting and Im looking forward to the challenge.

Hey, another Aussie here... brought four others over when I came here for a new job (and NOT in banking or IT!).
From Sydney, & I figure after 35 years there I've seen all that I'm going to see of that city... plenty more there, but some places I don't feel inclined to visit...

A bunch of people from here meet at the Talacker Bar every second Wednesday, I'll be there this week (making one Aussie, at least... not sure about the others!).
May drop in to Paddy's for the Rugby match, too... it's literally around the corner from Talacker Bar, so will be easy to get to...

For the record, there are 600 Aussies living in Zurich-I read this in the Blick free newspaper last week-so where ARE all you guys. I've havent met many Aussies at all since I've been here (make that zero)

ps. Im going to Talacker Bar too so Aussie no. 2- any more takers???

Welcome to Zurich. My background is Maltese, but i grew up in Perth Oz. Been here for 5months now. im 25 and i moved here to be with my Swiss Bfd. Hope things go well for ur move. It isnt always easy, but ur more then welcome to send me an email sometime if u get homesick, or just have a chat.
