Try going to the pub Flanagan's - closest to the real thing back home and there are many local expats who frequent it...(even thought they are more in the 30-50 year old age range). Hang in there!

Hi and welcome to the forum!!
If you are after good socialising with a bit of sport, you should try the Basel underwater hockey group. I've played with and against a few of them, and they're fun people. They have a meetup group you can check out.
You don't have to be a brilliant swimmer to play underwater hockey, you just have to be comfortable on the bottom of the pool! Snorkelling experience a bonus ...

Welcome to the forum!
It's been my experience that making good, new friends is difficult here... or can be. It seems like people are often so busy here and/or are just tucked away in their little bubbles. And who needs socializing in the real world, anyways, when we can all sit behind our computer screens in our pajamas and experience the illusion of socializing in online forums? | This user would like to thank Pancakes for this useful post: | |

Facebook is where it's at. There is a group for everything.
I suggest Basel Folk is one of the best ones for Basel.
There are many English speaking comedy events, check out Heimat, On The Run, American Stand up Show, International Comedy Club.
I'm old, but being young in Basel is not a bad situation at all.
