Indian moving to Basel

Hello Everyone,

My name is Surendra and I come from southern part of India. Moving to Basel in the month of April for work. Just received the permit to enter and in process of acquiring Visa D.

Here to make some good acquaintances and have little fun.

With or without family? One of the big pharma?

Anyway, there's a very wide spread of cultures here, so you'll be fine. My wife is Vietnames/Chinese/British and teaches loads of Indian kids.

Re: Indian moving to Basel

Hello Surendra!

You will like it here! There are lots of expats and you can get by speaking English (even though learning German is of course the best option to integrate and make the most of this nice town and its culture - I am still working on that too
One of my dearest friends here is from Mumbai!
All the best and if you need help when you arrive, post your questions here.

Liliana

Re: Indian moving to Basel

Welcome to Basel Surendra! I came here two years ago. For the first three months I felt completely confused -- there are a lot of rules, forms to fill out and challenges finding an apartment. Your employer should help with these in the beginning. One thing you should definitely try is swimming (floating) in the Rhine once the weather is better. It is one of my favorite things to do here.
