Me and my wife wanna move to Zurich later this year. Hope the covid situation is going to be better this year, so we're scheduling all the things for a safe relocate to a new place.

Before going much further, the usual questions:

In case you haven't yet come across this in your research, do you or your wife also have CH/EU citizenship?

If so, the biggest hurdle to moving here is done away with. If not, do not underestimate how big a hurdle it is for a non-EU citizen.

So if you (both) are only non-EU, are you being brought here by a company sponsoring your work permit?

Apologies if your eligibility to move here has already been worked out, but from the way you word your question ('we wanna move to Zürich'), it is unclear.

Whatever you do, keep a US bank account and link it to a US address (I use my sister's). Welcome!

I had the great good fortune to live in Chicago some years go. What a wonderful city it is (or was then). It certainly was "my kind of town", and I will never, ever forget the time I spent there. (or the US as a whole)! The Wrigley Building always made think of Westminister, and Michgan Avenue was a joy to behold. My office was located on Michigan Avenue, not very far from where Michelle Obama's family lived.
