moving to Zurich this summer family of " children 7 9 and11 would appreciate informat

we are moving to zurich this summer, sending the children to Zug International school, where would be good to live that is not Zug but is close to Zurich with good public transport links to Baar, preferably near to lake.

You will need to be a lot more specific, you can live pretty much all the way between Zug and Zurich. From your question it sounds like work will be in Zurich and School in Baar?

The good news is that everywhere has good public transport. If you check out a map - maybe a european road map or something and find a place that looks to be in the right sort of area, then go to www.sbb.ch (swiss rail), plug in the place you found and Baar/Zug/Zurich HB (HB = hauptbahnhof = main trainstation) yuo can see the exact time it takes to and from the different places and if there are connections or direct.

One thing to consider is that there are very frequent Zug-Zurich trains that dont stop much, so it might actually be faster for commutes to live in either Zug or Zurich and take a fast train, then live half way between and take a train that stops in every little place. Also remember to check taxes before you decide - they are much lower in Zug than Zurich Kanton!

Thalwil area in Zimmerberg is a good area for that.

You might want to join these groups...

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Zimmerberg-Sihltal-Zurich

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Expats-in-Zug

and ask your questions there. Those are the areas that you are asking about (I live in Sihltal - less than a 20 minutes straight shot drive to Zug - just over 10 to Baar).

There are people there with kids going to ISoZ. One of mine goes to our local school and the other to ZIS in Horgen where my husband teaches.

HTH:-)
