New not so young 'kid' on the block

Hi everyone, just arrived in Zurich on Monday so feeling a little shellshocked. I know that this forum will keep me sane, amused and irritated and its already been a helpful and comforting place to visit even before we arrived (we being my partner and me) so I'm looking forward to participating and picking everyone else's brains and experience!

We are both British, I was born in Jersey, Channel Islands, lived in England for 16 years and then the US for 11. Despite being a fairly practised gypsy this will be our first experience of living somewhere that isn't English speaking.

Today's snow was a reminder of not being in California anymore and we just spent 4 months in Sydney so moved from 29c to minus ? However, I am feeling fully justified for shelling out on some nice new warm togs!
