Zurich Newbies!

Hi there!
My name's Gillian and I arrived in Zurich almost 2 weeks ago. I'm here with my husband (his job moved us here), and we're enjoying it so far. We've been back and forth to Zurich over the past few months & are glad to be settling down to normal life again. At home (Northern Ireland), I was a music teacher (Singing, Piano & Violin) and my husband writes computer software.
I have no job at the minute, but that's fine as it'll take me a week or two to find me feet here... then...who knows!
I look forward to meeting people in the Zurich area, perhaps at some of the social events... a wee drink is always pleasant in the evening!

Re: Zurich Newbies!

Hi, welcome to Zurich... as a way of encourgaement I have a friend who earns by teaching singing lessons... though she is on a break at the moment. I am sure you can find work this way, I can think of at least two people who have mentioned wanting to learn to sing recently, both english speakers! PLus people are always looking for music teachers in the expat scene for their kids etc...
Happy settling in :-)

Hi!
Thanks for the kind notes of welcome! I am hoping to do some teaching here as I might get lonely in the apartment on my own all day!

Hey Gillian, I'll add my welcome to that of the others on here, along with a hope that you do find something to do with your time so you don't go nuts...

Social events are the place to look, there's a pretty regular wednesday evening drinks in Zürich (Talacker Bar, usually every two weeks), but poke around in the social events and you'll find more!

Hi Gillian - I have just moved to Zurich too with my partner and I am currently not working. Would be happy to meet up for a coffee/cup of tea to exchange relocation stories! any excuse to get out of the flat and be social! Cheers.
