New in Lausanne

Hello all!

My name is Laura and I'm a Dutch student who recently moved to Lausanne. I'm doing a research project at the UniL to finish my Masters in Biomedical Sciences.
My boyfriend works as a postdoc at EPFL and we will be here for at least two years.
We don't know anybody yet accept for our colleagues and we are still discovering everything here. I think this forum will be very helpful.

Cheers,
Laura

Re: New in Lausanne

Hi welcome.

even if you're not exchange, but you can still buy Xchange cards, or even if you're not you can still attend exchange parties usually held every wednesdays..

there are plenty foreigners around (I get myself bunch of foreigners best friends during the stay too). You can try activities in campus also, as there'd be abundant of foreigners doing all the same.

No worry, You'll love it here.

Re: New in Lausanne

Hello,

I'm an assistant in Lausanne as well, at UNIL. So don't hesitate to contact me for a chat and a coffee! I'm also an exchange partner for international students, so I can probably help you if you have questions about local life!

Cheers,

Mélusine

Re: New in Lausanne

Hi Laura,

Unfortunatelly, I am not in Lausanne at the moment. Still across the ocean in far Vancouver, Canada. I have a question for you: I am planning to apply for a postdoc position at the EPFL and I was wandering what is the salary range for postdocs there. Also, how do you find Lausanne? Is it a nice city? How are the people? Thanks a lot!
