Google search - we are visiting Switzerland (as ever) this summer, and are intending to live near Lausanne for about 6 months from March 2011.

Getting ready for my first visit to Zurich. I was googling places to eat sushi, shop for a suit, retaurants/bars/clubs to go to...and every time I kept noticing a link for this forum pop up in various search results. Eventually I clicked on it one, read an interesting thread on sushi...then I said **** it, i gotta join...

I live in Zürich, I can't speak good German. Everythime I look for something about Zürich in English on google I arrive here!

Google, as is how I find anything else. My wife and I are comming to Switzerland next week for a bit of alpine hiking and camping, it also happens to be a bit of a scouting mission, to find a nice place to live and work, we figured I might be able to get a good snowboarding fix down there, when the season next comes around.

I was introduced to the forum from family friends who have lived in Basel and were aware of its existence. Really helpful for people who have not been in Switzerland before!!!

Hi Everyone,
Thank you for welcoming me to the English Forum.
I had a problem that I felt required immediate help and while searching for some answers - since I know little about Switzerland and it's laws - I went to the American Embassyweb page and came upon this site. After reading a few of the postings I though it would be a great forum to join - not only to get answers for my problem - but to make new friends and perhaps aid others.
I'm so please this type of communication is available to us. I look forward to being a regular user and making new friends.
