Thank you | | | | | @Marissa, you will find better threads for that question in http://www.englishforum.ch/family-matters/ however the short answer is apart from bilingual kindergartens and primary schools around, the nearest intl school is in Thalwil.
I found english forum via "xpat exchange" http://www.xpatxchange.ch/index.php?...d=76&Itemid=55

I found this forum by searching for Swiss boarding schools. I would like to send my kids to a Swiss boarding school, first for summer school, and later for high school. I would like to get opinions from people who have gone to boarding schools in Switzerland. I also wonder if anyone is familiar with SSHL, a boarding school in Sweden.

My son first found this site, probably thru Google, he does everything with Google .... So I found out thru him - he said "Hey Mom, there ARE intelligent english speaking people here in CH, with a sense of humour too". |

Hi
i'm a single aussie girl, late 20's, moving to Basel (from sydney) next month. I've found that just about every google i do with my research has taken me here, so I thought i'd better get involved an introduce myself. I'm a fun and sporty girl... going to miss the surfing but hopefully i can replace it with snowboarding, and also continue on with football, triathlons, mtn biking, kiteboarding and wakeboarding (as soon as i find someone with a boat???).oh yeah and I suppose i will do some work (since thats the reason for my move)
anyway i'll get busy filling up all the other sections with questions.
Cheers in advance for all your help!
Sarah
p.s i'm not sure if i'm just a spastic but i can't find where to start a new post? i can only see how to reply to an existing one??

Welcome to the forum, I am sure will find plenty and people and activities to keep you interested here. You might want to avoid the use of the word spastic.

I found it on google in the search for the nice feeling that someone else who is English and living nearby, will have magical empathy with a bad Swiss experience (no need to discuss ), and thereby make me feel much better. So I hope everyone is empathising, in English please!!!!!!

| | How did you find this forum?
The purpose of this thread is to collect a bit of information from you about how you found this site. If you've just arrived please post your introduction in a separate thread - replies on this thread should just tell us a little bit about how you found us.
For example - did you find this site via a google search? If so, what were your search terms (we rank quite highly in google these days and it is interesting to see how many people find us using a variety of search terms!)
Did you see a flyer somewhere? If so, where was it?
Were you told it about it by friends or collegues? Did someone send you a link to a thread, and you explored the forum a bit and decided that you liked it?
Maybe you got given the link from a relocation company or company information pack, if so - which company was it?
Word is spreading and the forum is growing rapidly - so I'm just trying to build up a picture of how people are finding our little community!

I have found this forum by Google, but I was actually searching for "switzerland average salaries" and bumped into this forum.
Took me a few weeks to become a member, I've already read so much in this forum before. As any forum, it has a very ecletic group of people with similar interests -no matter which- who really like the idea of not being "alone" in a different place. People bond when they go through hard times, and I am sure some of us here could be called survivors for going through this big move which is changing country.
I thank you from englishforum.ch for giving us this wonderful tool, and I thank everyone else for their posts... you never know when you may need them.

I was told about that this forum existed when I first moved here but didn't actually look at it until 1.5 yrs later when another lab member wouldn't stop nagging me about it Now I'm addicted. |

It was a frenzy of pre-relocating googling that brought me here. I've since done my best to inform others - I was amazed by how many fellow expats had not heard of the forum.
Thanks Mark.

I came to wind up a friend who was already a member, stuck around, got hooked, never left.
Maybe I should clean my flat once in a while, though?

I was googling around the internet looking for something to do and stumbled across the site. I wish it had been around when I first moved over here as I can see that it's made a real difference to the English speaking community here. So much information, so many people. A real legacy.
