Dogs are bred in farms for human consumption, but not the chiwawas or ****zus. Not sure about cats though, first time I heard. They are too thin. No meat.
I have eaten snake soup in Hong Kong, and that really taste like chicken soup.
But if someone from Zurich says "Gruezi", it does not mean the WHOLE of CH speaks Gruezi.... does it?

Hi,
I am Chinese and currently living in Vienna, but thinking about relocating to Basel.
Is there a large Chinese community in Basel? Are they located in one place, or more spread out?
Are there Chinese supermarkets there? In Vienna, there are some (but sometimes the food is not so fresh.)
What about the normal supermarkets? How is the selection of fresh vegetables and seafood? Are they reasonably priced? In Vienna, it is not so bad, but I didn't find as many green vegetables and, of course, all the fish is already dead
Thanks!
Qiong

Hi Qiong,
I have been living in Basel for about 8 years now, originally I relocated from London, my family are from Singapore!
To be honest I have no idea if there is even a Chinese community here in Basel, as I have never looked for it!
However, in regards to the chinese supermarkets here, there are 3 that I know of located in different areas of Basel. The main one I go to is located at the main train station of Basel and is called Ah-Chau. They have a good selection of fresh chinese vegetables, however it doesnt come cheap. Seafood only comes frozen and is much cheaper then in the local supermarkets here. They chinese supermarkets also specialise in alot of Thai ingredients, as there is a bigger Thai community here then Chinese!
If there is something specific you want to know about what they have in the shopes please PM me for more info, as I was shopping there on the weekend!
Cheers
Eleanor

Hiya there, Im from china, beijing.
I second that Beyond chinese resteraunt. Just went dinner with a friend there tonight, and it was so nice, really very chinese food there! As for the comment, I say, it is "like any other pleasant chinese resteraunt in Beijing"----I think it's a really high compliment for a chinese resteraunt in Switzerland, Zurich, as most of the chinese food here are fairly localized already!
