Re: Moving to Biel Area

Hi, my name is Brie, I'm 24 and I recently moved to Biel from California. My husband is Swiss and from Biel, but not speaking German or French has made meeting people as well as finding a job difficult. I would love to get together and meet some of the other young english speakers who have moved to Biel.

Re: Moving to Biel Area

Hey Brie. Obviously I haven't been on this thread in a while! It's connected to an email that I don't use that often and therefore didn't see any of the messages. Are you still in the Biel area and looking to meet people?

Re: Moving to Biel Area

I'm still around the region if anyone would be interested in meeting up sometime.

I also play squash in Biel on Wednesday evenings if anyone is at all interested in that...

Re: Moving to Biel Area

Hello,
Me and my husband (who is a New Zealander) moved from London to Biel and haven't really met many English speaking people- other than our other New Zealand friend who also lives in Biel. So the three of us are looking to meet new people, who speak English and also would like to expand their friendship group and meet for the occasional beer/tea- whatever your chosen drink is. Any takers if I organise after work drinks one night in Biel?
Sally

I run an English Forum dinner club in Bern, we meet once per month for a chat in English.

This took several years to get going, and I suggest you persevere, and keep publishing an EF meet up every month. Good luck!

Re: Moving to Biel Area

Or shall we look at starting something in Biel? Maybe a designated weekly night to meet up for a drink after work? Anyone have ideas for day/location?

Re: Moving to Biel Area

I think this is a great idea and Biel is where I'd wanted to get something going for English speakers to meet each other. What about Twenty's cocktail bar in the old town as it is super cute in there and seeing as at first I dont think there will be lots of us, we should all be able to get a seat/chat?

Let me know what you think and what night of the week is best? Weds or Thurs perhaps?

Well I would go and my husband would and our friend- so if you and your husband come as well there would be at least 5 of us which would be a good start? Any other takers?
