Yes, but it's more speciality food than everyday. I've been to restaurants that have served kangaroo, crocodile, emu, camel and buffalo. Kangaroo is the most common by far and crocodile.......... tastes like chicken.

There was a really nice Australian restaurant in Liege in Belgium that served all of the above....this was some years ago now, no idea if its still there.

For those close by, there is supposed to be one in Basel - The Boomerang, in Binningen. Anyone ever been?

Sensible answers to follow... welcome to the forum!
You just can't help yourself DB, can you? You do make me laugh though! No wonder this forum amuses me so much in the wee hours down under.

Ditto that for me. Is that Bunker Bay or so? Silly thing to ask really, could be any one of a hundred beaches around the south west. Kinda like the Cote d'Azur with 90% of the population removed
And for me, although with the hottest driest summer on record and a mega storm last night which flooded my b* house, I'm just a tad over Perth at the moment. I'm heading to Basel in June.

Welcome to the forum!

Im a Perth-ite. Orginally from New Zealand but grew up there.
Miss the beach, sun, cottesloe, yallingyup, margaret river, rottnest, daylight saving (?), surfing, kite surfing.
Ideally it would be great to live 6 months here and then 6 there.

Simonminissale thats defo yallingyup.

Live in Zug, work in french part
I'm heading down to MR, Dunsborough, Yallingup and am trying to find a day for Rotto just before the big move in June!

I am curious. Is it true that you eat crocodiles and kangaroo in Australia?
Yep, but as Yokine says, it's more specialty. I once went to a market in Darwin and there was a stall called 'Road Kill' which served all those things that sometimes get dead on the road! Sounds awful, but crocodile was quite nice (I thought it was a bit fishy) and kangaroo is a bit like venison. Wasn't so fussed on the emu though.

No, but happy to try it sometime. Maybe an EF gig during summer?

I'm amazed how many people from Perth/WA are on EF. Into double figures easy.

Once I work out a way to be financially independent I'll be living May-Oct in Switzerland and Nov-April in Perth. Once I work out a way......
Ah, the road through Boranup forrest, secret beach break, my fav spot on the planet. Known to the aboriginals as 'Place of the wild onion'

Oh my.. why would you leave Byron for Klosters.. I can't think of two more opposite places..

Byron Bay markets (were they the first or second Sunday of the month?) were always my faaavourite.
How long have you been here??
The culture shock from regular Australia to CH is massive, but from Byron Bay.. I cannot imagine!

Feel free to contact me if you need any information when you get here
(I've not been able to locate skippy steaks... be prepared to sell your soul or first born child for a good cut of meat )

I attend an area coffee once a month in Morges if you want contact with some other english speaking expats in the area. PM me if you would like details.

Oh i miss driving through those forests down south of WA, Pemberton area for example... aren't those trees magnificent!!! So relaxing and peaceful... fresh scented air from the forest, and the sound of everything living buzzing and or chirping quietly amongst/in/above/on/under the trees... mmm, good memories!

Re: Calling all Aussies, where are we all??

You don't realise how amazing the Aussie sense of humour is until you leave; every Australian I meet over here seems funny enough to be a comedian, compared to the locals!!

I'm from Melbourne, now in Basel, and miss it like crazy, although this recent Swiss sunshine has improved my mood ten fold!

Like many others, I'm here for LUUURVE! And although I miss the incredible coffee, cheap Asian food and effortlessly cool laneway bars, he's well worth it !

Re: Calling all Aussies, where are we all??

Im from Perth, to me the best place in the world, miss it terrribly....I've also lived and worked in Canbera for 8 years as well but dont hold that against me . Been here for ten years so have adapted a bit of a Swiss mentality (...like trains being late by 3 mins) so will have to adjust back to the Perth way of life, food and thinking when we head back this summer...! Dont have any photos but I really like the one Yokine posted.
Cheers!

Re: Calling all Aussies, where are we all??

For all fellow members from Perth. A shot of Cottesloe beach and the Indiana teahouse. An unusual shot as it has clouds in it
Ive only been back twice in the last 9 years and it seems to have changed alot. Loads of traffic, loads of money and the conversations now tend to be "What car do you have and how many homes have you got and in which suburbs...bla bla bla..."

Oh well.. I didnt mean to be condescending to Switzerland when I was all "WHY WOULD YOU MOVE FROM BYRON TO KLOSTERS!".. you have lived in two very beautiful places so should consider yourself lucky for that I guess

But yeah.. the Byron lifestyle is just so incredibly free and laid back and beachy and hippy! I used to go down every couple of months and just loved it..

Oh well, enjoy being shipwrecked At least its getting warmer now!

They're giant wattle fleas! When was the last time you were in Glen Innes? If its over 4 weeks ago then I bet my left nut they have at least one Subway (its a plague). Granted Starbucks might be a bit too 'cosmopolitan'....

Ahh Byron.... its heaven on earth if you ask me. Has anyone been to that fish n' chips place Mongers? Love it.

BTW anyone heard the ahem latest Heh Dad news... check it out Scandalous!

Ah yes it was more than 4 weeks.. so who knows
Fish and chips at Byron (I've been to a couple of fish and chips shops there depending on which one was closest to the end of the beach I was at - and I know one of them was all.. recommended.. so I'll assume that was it).. yes please
Its a shame its getting so busy.. but I guess thats market days and weekends and when Splendour in the Grass is on, because some days weren't so bad.
Its sad. They even have a Suprč there now

Re: Calling all Aussies, where are we all??

G'day all, I 'm from Perth. I've been living here now since Dec 2007. Although Switzerland has its many fine points the lifestyle of WA is a hard one to beat.
Snowboarding and skiing are my new passions to replace surfing. I'm still awestruck when up in the mountains on a blue sky winter day. It's a pity Zurich is so often shaded by cloud and fog, but the pays pretty good.
