Moving to the Zug area this July..

We are soon-to-be-new-to-Switzerland, so thought we'd sign up and say hi.

6 of us (me, the missus, and our four kids) are moving to the Zug area at the end of July, for work. We previously lived in Budapest Hungary for 6 years (2002-2008) and have spent the last 2 years at our home in Utah.

Kids are excited (finally) about learning German, and we are still a little on the fence about schooling--whether we want to go the international school route, or dive into local options. The company has approved the international school funding, so we have options and a little time to decide! Your recommendations/experiences are MOST welcome, particularly if you have kids in our age range--15,13,11,9.

It's good to be here, and we are excited about this move!

Welcome to the EF and soon to be Zug.

There is a wealth of knowledge on here and it has helped many including me.

Good luck with the move.

Welcome to the forum and to Zug canton soon!
Sorry can't give advice on children's schooling but ask me if your family wants to foster a Lab pup from a guide dog school.

We are a dog family--we have an 18 month old black lab that we plan to bring with us, regulations permitting. We'd be open to fostering a pup, providing the owner of our place signs off :-)

Ah, the school only allows families without dogs (cats and other animals are OK) to foster their pups one at a time.

Well, do keep me in mind when you need a casual dog-sitter or walker.

Will do! We may need the occasional dog-sitter, once we get settled and sorted :-)

Thanks--we're looking forward to it. I had a few days of house-hunting and looking around the general area last month, and really liked what I saw.

We moved to Menzingen almost 2 years ago and my teenage daughter goes to the Integration School, which is absolutely fabulous. PM me if you would like more details. Good luck with the move

Re: Moving to the Zug area this July..

Thank you, we have a 15 and a half year old boy who will most likely go to the integration school. Is there a deadline for registration? Does the school have a website?
Thanks for the info.

Re: Moving to the Zug area this July..

Aaron,

Have a car for sale around that time if your interested! Great second car; worn around the edges mechanically sound, full service history, one owner (me), 4 wheel drive, 1.9TDI engine.

Send me a PM if your interested.

Mark

P.S. Start looking for a place to live now! www.homegate.ch, you will find it a challenge to find a place big enough for six + dog in Zug (limited options with appartments + dog, limited affordable selection of houses).
